Support for Families with Members Facing Serious Illness (S2023)
In today’s unequal world, thousands of families are torn apart economically, psychologically, and socially simply due to the illness of a loved one with serious and costly diseases. United for Humanity, in line with its core values and inspired by the programs of organizations such as Médecins Sans Frontières, UNHCR, and ReliefWeb, has launched a support program that provides financial and humanitarian assistance to families caring for a person with a serious and chronic illness.
Program Objective
This program is designed to reduce the economic pressures and improve the quality of life for families facing a health crisis. We believe that caring for a sick person should not come at the cost of the family’s collapse; no one should have to choose between food and medicine, or between paying rent and receiving treatment.
Support Focus Areas
Direct Financial Assistance: Providing financial aid for essential medications, specialized treatment sessions, home medical equipment, and hospitalization costs
Social and Counseling Support: Referral to support services and specialized resources to alleviate psychological and social burdens
Special Case Follow-Up: For families in critical situations, a team of social workers personalizes the support process
Preserving Human Dignity: All processes are carried out with confidentiality, respect, and honoring the dignity of the applicants
Who is prioritized?
Families with a member suffering from diseases such as cancer, kidney failure, strokes, advanced heart diseases, rare genetic disorders, or severe mental illnesses
Families living in migration, asylum, or statelessness who do not receive any government or private support
Families under the care of a single mother or a disabled person
Applicants with a referral letter from their treating physician, medical centers, or social organizations
Conditions and How to Apply
Important Note: This program is available only to families that do not receive any government or private support. Submission of valid medical documentation, along with clear and documented evidence of the family’s economic and social status, is required.
