United for Humanity (UFH)

The international charity organisation United for Humanity is a voluntary, non-governmental initiative established in 2015 by the Quakers in Scotland, in response to the growing refugee crisis. Founded in Edinburgh, Scotland, the organisation has grown thanks to the generous support of benevolent donors and the collaboration of churches from across Scotland, Europe, and the United States. Today, we operate active centres in Sweden, France, and Belgium.

Our core mission is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for refugees from the Middle East and Africa, enabling them to settle, become empowered, and begin a new, dignified life in Scotland and other European countries. By engaging skilled professionals and harnessing the power of community support, we seek to restore hope, human dignity, and equal opportunities in the hearts and lives of refugees.

Since 2018, we have successfully implemented an innovative programme that has helped a significant number of technically skilled individuals find employment in renowned workshops and factories across Sweden, Belgium, France, and Scotland. Over the years, more than 16,000 individuals in Europe and 2,700 in Scotland have benefited from this initiative and are now valued members of our extended family.

Moreover, since our inception, over 1,550 underprivileged families in deprived regions of the Middle East and Africa have received financial and humanitarian support through our organisation. Across all our centres in Europe and Scotland, we organise weekly social and cultural programmes for refugee women, men, and children—programmes that play a vital role in their integration and empowerment journey.

Our Mission

Our mission is to make the most of charitable resources, community support, and church partnerships to enhance the quality of life for refugees in their new and safe homes—homes where hope, peace, and human opportunity are restored.
